Messiah - Handel 8th December 2006

Knaresborough Choral Society, members of Leeds Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Martin Binks
This rendition of Handel's Messiah was a 'first' for Knaresborough and indeed the first time Conductor Martin Binks has performed the work using the Mozart orchestration. The 50 strong choir, accompanied by 30 membersof Leeds Symphony Orchestra and four excellent soloists gave a new sound to this dearly loved oratorio.

Nancy Smith Retires
This performance of Messiah was the final performance for founder member Nancy Smith. Although unwell some years ago, Nancy returned to the Choral Society and has taken part in most concerts for some years now. Her beautiful soprano voice was well known and loved in Knaresborough and district and she will be sorely missed.
President Arnold Kellett and Conductor Martin Binks presented flowers to Nancy at the close of a memorable performance.
